Wow Ben, that's pretty incredible to hear about your experience at other gyms. Thanks for elaborating on that and letting us know how it was for you :)

I have visited one in New Mexico. It was different in the following ways: The trainers do not go over the moves before the WOD, there was not a group warm up (however there was an expected warm up every day of 2 X 10 pull ups, 15 squats, 10 pushups, and 15 abmat situps), and I didn't feel as much intensity. On the other hand, the CrossFit support by members was very present, everyone was encouraging. The intensity could have been the times I went, which was the 11/noon hour, once you get the rush of the 6am its hard to deviate!

Julie and I visited Crossfit Coronado and our feelings were mixed. Their facility was nice, but the people weren't too friendly. Maybe because I walked in there and told them I could kick all their butts, didn't go over too well. Just kidding! Didn't really say that. But I am glad for our community and the way we try and make newbies feel welcome. Very important for a great first impression.

I have been to a couple of them. One in Colorado and one in Washington DC. Both were good experiences with fun people!! Although not the same experience that we have in our gym. We are LUCKY here at CROSSFITPC in my opinion.
Also we have ADDY to keep us all competitive.

I have not, however, during Sundance a CrossFit member from Seattle came in for a work out and talking with him afterwards, he said the "he met more people in 1 hour than in 2 months at his gym" and that he was taking our "introduction policy" back to his gym. He was really impressed at the friendliness of our group. I agree with Clay -- it makes a huge difference to a new member -- we have a very welcoming group and that is one of the things I love about CrossFit PC.

I've only had the chance to visit another gym for a class once. It was interesting in that I really felt like I had something to prove and pushed myself pretty hard.
On a side note, I have gotten good remarks from visitors that have come to our gym and have commented on how welcome they have felt while coming here. Dave Guyer, told me about a time when a visitor came here and when the guy was leaving Dave asked him how it was, the guy responded "I have met more people here in an hour than I have met at my gym in the last 2 months" this made him extremely comfortable and is a great compliment to our community here...you guys rock!! Yesterday we had a good athlete from out of town come to our 6 a.m. class and half way through the workout he was saying about how you guys are animals!! You guys work really hard and should be proud of that
